Few cars get my heart beating faster than the 1963-67 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Rays. When the `63 Sting Ray “split window” coupe and convertible were introduced in the fall of 1962, I vowed, as an eight-year-old car crazy kid, to one day own one. (I had to settle for a plastic AMT model car before eventually fulfilling my dream by purchasing a “real” `67 Sting Ray convertible in 1990. Alas, while I still have that plastic model, the car is gone!) An all new design, these Corvettes were a huge improvement over the already stout `62 and earlier models. But the `63 Sting Ray coupe’s shapely body and one-year-only split rear window made it truly dramatic. It was a pleasure to appraise this two-owner `63 split window coupe several years ago. An iconic beauty!
