I was recently engaged by my client to appraise his 1997 Porsche 911 Turbo coupe, which received extensive GT2 “tribute” modifications approximately five years ago by a Porsche performance specialist in California. The Porsche GT2 was a very limited production, homologation special with less than 60 examples built in order to qualify it for racing. Besides increased horsepower from its 3.6 liter twin turbocharged engine when compared to the ”base” 911 Turbo engine, the GT2 eliminated the front differential, included stiffer front and rear suspension components, and added wider tires and wheels, and front and rear fender flares. Given their rarity and desirability, authentic Porsche GT2 models are very valuable automobiles. This “recreation” was exceptionally well engineered and in very “clean” condition.
